Modular Monitor Stands

We design and sell modular monitor stands and components for commercial, industrial, and consumer use.

What started as a DIY project with a desire to source everything from a local hardware store is still that at heart, with just a few upgrades that turned them into very "Industrious Stands".

We also introduce you to customization options and ways for you to build them yourself -- if you are so inclined, given most parts can be acquired at hardware stores or online, although at low quantities, our prices are hard to beat. 8" Tubular Base with Post (Fixed or Telescoping)

The combination of plumbing, electrical and sprinkler system items shown above (along with some custom fasteners) is an optimal combination for cost and performance for most single and double monitor stand needs.

Other Variations
The feet (pipe nipples) can also be steel (painted or unpainted), galvanized emt tubing, copper, and other types of pvc via fittings and they can vary in length. The post can be in all the other materials listed above as well. The metal 5 way fitting can be plastic, and the 90's for feet can be other items.

Notes:

1) 8" is the minimum recommended length for feet (pipe nipples) for monitors. 6" can work in single monitor situations with monitors 22" or less are mounted close to the post. Longer legs may be needed.

Notes:

1) The 16" option is enough to put qty 22" monitors over/ under each other with a few inches to spare.

2) The 18" option is better for more room for over under and larger monitors, but 18" breaks a shipping size threshold that increases shipping costs by about $10.

3) Longer posts available for small additional fees.

Monitor Mounting Brackets and Mounting Plate

NOTE: These brackets are intended for direct mounting to 3/4" posts. When mounting to 1/2" posts a bushing is always suggested/required. Bushing shown in blue below. The bushing is made of 3/4 Pex tubing (a common low cost plumbing product). You can get that in red, white or blue at your local hardware store or from us. Clear tubing can also be used.

3 axis Bracket and Monitor Plate $12

It's called a 3-axis bracket because it allows for adjustment three ways. Up/Down, Left/Right and Monitor Spin

Notes:

1) For heavy loads you can use two Brackets, one at top and bottom of monitor mounting plate. If you don't bolt the bottom one to the plate it can't spin, but if you don't, it's just a support and it still spins. The extra bracket is $4 and hardware to bolt it to the monitor plate is $1.

4 axis Bracket and Monitor Plate $17

It's called a 4-axis bracket because it allows for adjustment in four ways. Up/Down, Left/Right, Monitor Spin, and Monitor Tilt Up and Down

Notes:

1) You may need to use plyers to turn the knob enough to get it to hold a position.
2) Additional supports are available if this bracket will not hold the tilt (it typically holds well for 22" mointors with slight up or down tilt).

3) You can connect to the mounting plate via the top, center or bottom of the plate. You might want to use top or bottom instead of middle if you want or need to add additional support to hold a position (see next section) or for position on the post at bottom or top extreme.

4) this 4 axis bracket has all components of the 3 axis bracket. You can leave it assembled and use it as a 3 axis bracket or take it apart and use it that way.

Sidewinder Support Bracket $7 each

The Sidewinder Support bracket can be used to supplement a 3 or 4 axis bracket. If bolted to the post but not the monitor plate, the spin axis is maintained and it acts like a stop. It can also be bolted to the mounting plate as well.

Two Sidewinder Support Brackets can be used for the greatest strength and flexiblity for vertical or tilted mounting.

At the price we are offering these units, it is NOT cost effective for anyone to try to build under 10 of these. You need to buy components in bulk to get good pricing and you'll end up with material for 5 to 10 units or more that way AND you will find delivery costs and/or travel time to pickup items far outweigh the costs of purchase AND you still will not have an ideal monitor mounting plate (which can be purchased from us individually).

If you need 10 to 50 units AND you have the ability to cut and deburr your own pipes for posts (or use PVC) AND you can do some simple drilling and tapping, you can save yourself a chunk of money by building them yourself -- but you'll still need to navigate the monitor mounting plate (which can be purchased from us individually).

If you need 50 to 500 units or more, it's typically a custom purchasing and fabrication job for us or someone else to support.

Assets (like Hand Tools)

The benefit of this system over every other option is the full modularity of all parts. and pieces and the availablity of a piece or too if needed in a pinch without Vendor dependance. Each part and piece can be upgraded or down graded as needed and they can be mixed and matched as needs change.

In 20 years, there's no reason to believe any of these parts should break and you should be able to sell them for 50-75% of what you paid for them if not more, if the pricing of the products remains constant.

That's what makes these assets not expenses.

Backstory and Assembly Photos

This concept of a DIY Dual Monitor stand with readily available parts was pursued in 2015 when a Mechanical Engineer wanted to go from a 4 monitor setup to a 6 monitor setup. At that time there were less options on Amazon for over under monitors, and he wanted to create something that was modular and comprised of parts all found at a local hardware store. Eventually he found the parts to make it work but it wasn't very ergonomic and not nice enough to become a sellable product.

The primary components are available at building supply business. The original monitor mounting plate was an electrical box cover plate that was custom drilled. It has been upgraded to a machined aluminum and plastic composite, selected for it's combination of strength and flexibility, The plastic knobs and plugs were added for ergonomics and aesthetics. They mail order if you are trying to do this DIY.
